When you are thinking about cell phones, you probably want to know whether or not you are going to go with a monthly service provider, or with a pay as you go system. While a monthly service provider might sound like the best option, it isn't as easy as doing a prepaid cell phone plan. There are several important things to consider about a prepaid-cell-phone service plan before you decide to purchase it.

With prepaid-cell phone plans, you are in control of the type of service you get, how much you spend, and how much you are going to be using your service. Unlike a monthly service provider, with prepaid cell phones, you don't pay a flat monthly rate to have your phone. Paying a flat rate can be frustrating if you don't always use your telephone the same amount each month, or if you find that you are not using as much as you paying for. With prepaid flip phones, and prepaid services, you choose how much time you'd like to put on the phone, you buy it, and then you use it.

Most of the plans come with cards that you can use to recharge. Some services come with all types of plans and all types of phones. You can get prepaid- flip-phones, or regular phones. You can even get blackberry-phones. When you purchase a phone for a prepaid-service, the phone will usually come with a few minutes, or units, on it already.

Once you purchase the plan, you'll start it up, and then call a specific number from the phone in order to activate it and to get your cell number. Once is activated, you can start using it. The plan probably came with a few minutes to get you started, but soon you will want to purchase more minutes.

It is easy to use prepaid-cell-phone plans. You simply purchase a card from the store, or buy minutes online, and load them onto your telephone, using a telephone or the internet. Once the minutes are on your telephone, you can use it as you would normally use a regular cell-phone. When you run out of prepaid time, you'll need to purchase additional credits.

When you are using prepaid cell telephones, you'll need to watch out for a few things. Some plans require you to buy a certain amount of minutes per month or per year, in order to keep your number. As long as you stick to the guidelines, you'll have the ease of a cell plan with a price tag you are able to control.

For wireless users who want the best value for their money, prepaid cell phone service is the obvious choice. The majority of minutes purchased through postpaid plans are not used during the course of the month, and the average monthly bill for contract users is 20% higher than the plans list pricing.

It's not a mystery. It's just simple mathematics and consumer logic.

Postpaid contract plans appear to be about nailing wireless users to the wall with unfair rates, hidden fees, and terms of service that can be renewed even without a customer's consent. People who glean some sort of status from holding an agreement with a major wireless company might look down on pay as you go alternatives, but the truth is postpaid wireless is just money out the window.

Prepaid cell phone service allows you to pay for only the minutes you actually use. Instead of being lured into a plan loaded with unclear charges and hidden fees, with prepaid you simply load your phone and use your airtime.

And prepaid cell phones are available in all the top brand names. And many of the slickest models can now be loaded with prepaid airtime.

Prepaid users can send text messages, take and send pictures, and in many cases even access the Web. With the exception of in-depth Internet use there is really no valid reason for choosing a contract plan over prepaid cell phone service.

As a prepaid cell phone customer you are always 100% in control of your budget. There are never overages or unplanned airtime expenses. You'll always know ahead of time how much one minute of airtime and/or one text message will cost.

And since prepaid cell phone services have deals with nearly all major tower networks roaming is never a problem with a quality prepaid vendor. The benefit of never incurring roaming charges eliminates one of the biggest reasons for excess bills; this alone amounts to huge savings over postpaid service.

It's not at all difficult to know your approximate airtime usage. So prepaid service does not represent a significant inconvenience on any level.

And all good pay as you go providers allow you to reload airtime directly from your handset. Of course you also have the option of adding new minutes online from any computer worldwide.

You many not realize this, but over 60% of all global wireless users are on prepaid plans. And the way postpaid contract plans continue to fleece millions of consumers year after year, it seems entirely likely this percentage will continue to grow over the next decade.

In fact it's not a big leap of the imagination to think that prepaid will become the primary method of wireless use. We may be on our way to a world where 90% or more of the cell phone using population leverage prepaid service plans.

Wireless users everywhere are sick and tired of getting ripped off by their providers. The biggest complaints of cell phone customers worldwide are unfair contract terms, unexpected charges on the monthly bill, and roaming fees.

With prepaid cell phone service not one of these critical issues is ever part of the equation!

Prepaid cell phone plans help the users keep track of the used talk minutes and warn them near the time of expiry. Prepaid cell phones are for people who do not want to get involved in a contract. There is no need to pay any monthly bill, no usage of credit checks, no commitment and definitely no hidden charges. But it might be very difficult when making a comparison among the service providers to choose a right prepaid plan as each service provider has his own advantages and disadvantages on his features. Below listed are some factors, which will help in comparing prepaid plan the easy way:

The first thing is to check for the charges on the calls made per minute, some providers give more talk time if the customer buys more minutes at a single shot, that is the more money the consumer spends the greater will be the benefit with a cheaper call rate.

The next thing is to find out if the cell phone carriers charge any fee for using the phone on a daily basis, and to choose the plan according to the need.

The free talk time period such as weekends, night calling and mobile to mobile are normally possible to call others with the same cell phone carrier and again the consumer needs to pay an extra amount to avail this offer. This is not ideal for people who have contacts with people with different cell phone carrier usage.

If the consumer is a frequent traveler, he is forced to find out if there is any roaming charge charged by his cell phone carrier as some charge up to 70 percent per minute. All the cell phone carriers too do not offer international calling. If the consumer has to contact people outside the nation for either personal or business needs should opt for a cell phone carrier which gives offers on international calling to get benefited by the prepaid plans.

Certain cell phone carriers give an expiry time for availing of the facilities from them. The consumer has to recharge once the account expires. This might not pose a problem for frequent users but for occasional users the main is more talk time, this too is possible as most of the cell phone carriers give an option to add more talk time before the expiry period.

After going through the above factors, according to the specific need of an individual, a comparison can be done and the carrier, which ideally suits the individual to reap the benefits of prepaid connection, can be chosen.

Prepaid cell phone plans are very economical and help in saving money as there is no contract between the user and the cell phone service provider. As there are more and more companies in the field, they offer highly competitive prices which are beneficial to the consumers. It is better to go through different competitive rates than getting into the trap of obtaining free cell phones. Due to the competitive prepaid plans available to the consumers, they get both a deal price and a free phone.

When using prepaid plans, the monthly bills towards having a mobile communication at your dispense with a lower rate are not a dream but a reality. It is a boon for parents who are getting their kids a prepaid cell phone plan on their first gifted cell phone. With the prepaid plan where only a set amount of minutes are available to the kids for the month, making them educated about restricting on both cell phone usage as well as budgeting their hard earned money. Almost all the cell phone service providers offer prepaid cell phone connectivity facility but vary with the talk time and amount.

Prepaid cell phone plan offers a minimum billing amount. The best one is considered to have a 6-second billing, whereas when a call made does not get answered, it might be charged a 3-minute billing. Hence care needs to be taken to use the set amount of minutes productively than to waste on unanswered calls. Also under some of the prepaid plans offered by the service providers, they charge a hefty amount on activation charges. Do a little bit of home work and look for the best competitive rate in obtaining the ideal prepaid plan.

The great advantage in obtaining prepaid plans is that there is contract signed whereas it is mandatory when any other plan is chosen. The simple concept of the prepaid plan is that a set number of minutes are provided by the cell phone service provider and once the minutes get exhausted the consumer needs to buy again a set of minutes according to his needs. The consumer has a choice of various cell phone service providers to choose from. Only caution to be taken is to go through any small print on the package before purchasing a plan which will help avoid losing money on the activation fees and also amount of minutes to be purchased with rebates, if any.

Prepaid cell phone service is better than standard contract service in many ways. This article covers the top five reasons to dump your contract and go prepaid now.

Reason One: Control

With prepaid you only pay for minutes you actually use. Surveys indicate 70-80% of all postpaid minutes go unused.

Reason Two: No Overages

With prepaid cell phone service you will never have overage charges. Since you load your airtime up front it is absolutely impossible to go over your budget.

This is a huge advantage when you have teenagers in the house.

And even without kids, this forces you to be fully responsible for your time. Instead of guessing which plan works best, with prepaid cell phones you'll quickly get a handle on your actual monthly usage.

Reason Three: No Roaming Charges

Prepaid wireless providers have deals with most major tower networks so roaming is never an issue. In most cases if there's a tower nearby your handset will have a signal and you won't have to pay extra for tapping into the competition's network.

This alone can result in huge savings every month. Wireless users who travel can save a fortune by going prepaid because they won't be restricted to the local tower network and nailed with roaming charges for going out of bounds.

Reason Four: No Surprise Charges

Prepaid also lets you avoid hidden fees and excess charges. The average contract service's monthly bill is 20% higher than what the customer was told when they bought!

This never happens with prepaid cell phone service because you pay in advance. Even if the company wanted to load your bill with extra fees and hidden charges it couldn't because you don't receive a monthly invoice.

Reason Five: No Contracts

And you can drop your provider any time you want because you're not locked into some silly contract. You decide when and if to pay, and you decide how much to spend.

Plus today's prepaid cell phone services give you the same great reception, the same selection of top-quality handsets, and the same bells and whistles you get with postpaid contract services. The only major difference is the fact that you save big money and retain complete control over your wireless lifestyle when you go with prepaid providers.

Is there really any good reason to strap yourself into some totally one-sided contract? Instead of looking for reasons to go prepaid you might want to stop and think:

What are the valid reasons for not going prepaid? Why on earth would anyone want to spend more money and be pushed around by companies that force you into abusive contracts when they could simply purchase airtime at fair rates without all the hassle?

Do you realize that postpaid wireless providers can even renew your contract without your signature? In fact this can be done without your consent altogether! Why do business with a vendor that can stab you in the back any time you fail to read the fine print?

It's no wonder over 60% of the world's cell phone users go with prepaid services.

Receiving a phone call is an activity that we all love getting. While the majority of us use out normal phone lines there are other options that we can look into. One such option is to use prepaid cell phones. These phones are ones that you can use when you don't want to be spending a lot of money on phone bills.

Even though there are many different brands of cell phones, you should look for ones which provide you with prepaid phone facilities. Among the cell phones which use this prepaid advantage are ones like Nextel, Boost, Verizon, Sprint, and Alltel to name a few.

To make the prepaid cell phones more attractive to younger users there are games, downloadable ring tones, and special limited edition phones. With these prepaid cell phones and the other cell phones from various phone companies you will find that there is a pay as you go charge.

Once you have looked at these cards you will notice that sometimes you can double the amount of talking time - given minutes - which is given on these cards. You will however need to see if these plans can be used with any existing prepaid cellular phones and phone plans that may be in your possession.

Why is prepaid cell phone service great? Prepaid cell phone will help you control your budget. Prepaid service permits you to talk as much as you need or can afford, you are in control of both aspects. If your budget for this month is a bit strained it is ok, because you will just talk and pay less. However if you have enough money and need to talk more, fine, it can be done.

Also if you do not use all the credits you have bought this month you will just use them the next month, nothing goes to waste. So if you look for a way to stay connected but retain more control over your cell phone budget, prepaid cell phone is just the thing for you.

By using prepaid service you can add as many minutes to your airtime as you need, unlike regular cell phones where you have to pay for pre-specified minutes of usage every month. However with some prepaid service providers you will have to add a certain amount of credits (read $$$) every few months even if you do not spend them. Meaning, you have time limit in which you can spend your prepaid minutes.

However in some instances prepaid cell phone might not be right for you. When you decide to buy a cell phone think carefully what you need it for, try to estimate how many minutes per month you will spend talking. And always, always do a thorough check on present offers. There is always one deal that is the best. Do not presume that all deals are equal.

Cell phone market is very competitive and service providers fight viciously for every costumer. And if you are going to be paying them why not get the best deal.

There is always one which offers lowest rates. Some will offer you a number of discounts and some will offer a discount if you pay directly with your credit card.

You can set up your payment in variety of ways or you can just go and buy minutes from your favorite retailer or buy them in a department store.

It is very simple to just add the minutes you need. If you have used up most of your paycheck this month or had unforeseen expenses, just buy as much minutes as you can afford. When you spend those minutes if you need or have the money to, you can easily add as much airtime as you need.

With prepaid cell phone service you are always in control of your budget and you pay exactly for the minutes you spent talking.

Prepaid cell phones are great in case that you have bad credit. Long time ago when prepaid service was first offered this used to be its main advantage for the user. It did not matter if your credit was lousy, you could still get a cell phone and use it just like if you had a perfect credit.

Cell phones are so common these days it is really difficult to find someone who does not have one. Even if you do, it is in most cases by personal choice (your author was one of these, for the longest time I refused to get it, **** becoming a father changed my mind).

All of us need to be able to communicate with a person we care for and that is the main benefit of cell phones. That is why prepaid service is great, you can get it any time you want and nobody will check your credit history for it.

So what are the main differences (concerning credit checks) between prepaid and non-prepaid service?

Prepaid

With prepaid service you simply buy a cell phone, number and minutes you intend to spend talking and there is no need to worry about how it will impact your credit score. Or for that mater, whether you are going to get a cell phone in the first place.

Prepaid service providers just do not care about your credit rating because in order to use the service it has to be paid for in advance. Because it is paid in advance you pose no risk for the company that provides the service. The good thing about it is that you are %100 in control of your budget and it will not show on your credit report no matter what you do.

But remember, prepaid service is not just for people with bad credit, it is far easier to control your spending this way and you do not lose any of the cell phone service benefits. It is especially suitable for people who do not use cell phones a lot. You do not have the pay monthly bills but are still connected if you need it.

Non-prepaid

Regular, non prepaid service will check your credit score before you are approved. Credit bureaus are constantly informed by

creditors about your payment history, including the cell phones companies. So remember that an unpaid cell phone bill can

result in you being turned down for some other more important credit demand like home or a new car.

With prepaid cell phone service it is never going to happen, because you are %100in control of your budget at any time. It will enable you to easily avoid any trap caused by over spending.

In these modern times of communication people are becoming more and more dependent on the use of cell phones. There are literally hundreds of different plans that all offer completely unique incentives. Unfortunately it is starting to become a little too complicated for most people, therefore if you are one of these people, your best option would be to go with prepaid plan instead of a monthly contracted plan. This article will discuss the major differences between prepaid cell phone plans and monthly plans.

Prepaid Cell Phones

So what exactly are prepaid cell phones and how are they beneficial. Well they are essentially this, a phone plan that you pay for when you need more credit. Basically once you run out of credit, all you have to do is go down to the local 7 eleven or anywhere that offers prepaid credit and top up your account. The benefits of such a plan are that you aren't locked into any fixed contract so if you decide that you want to change providers you can do so without having to pay any sort of fee.

When people think of prepaid, they think that it will work out to be more expensive then if you were on a plan of some sort, especially if you are someone who uses their cell phone a lot. This of course is not true as there is the option of purchasing a cap plan where you are given a certain amount of credit for the price you pay, however you will only have one month to use the credit. Basically you get about 5 times as much credit as what you paid for. So if you paid $50, you should get around $250 worth of calls, depending on the service provider.

Monthly Plans

The next choice you have to make is whether or not you are best going with a plan or not. Basically the advantage of going with a plan is that you will normally get a free phone when you sign the contract. Prepaid phones require you to purchase your own phone and we all know how expensive they can be! Therefore if you want to get a good phone that is worth a few hundred dollars, you are more than likely going to get it for free on a plan, if not free then for a lot cheaper.

So in summary you need to make the choice of whether having a good phone is important to you and if it is you are better off going with monthly plan, if not then you can buy yourself a cheap phone and get yourself a prepaid sim card and in the end you are going to save a little more money and have the added bonus of not being locked into a contract.

Using a prepaid cell phone service might just be the smartest decision you will ever make. It can simplify your life and save you a ton of money in the long run. Sure beats signing up for a ridiculously long contract with traditional cell phone service providers!

Chances are you've heard some horror stories about all the fees you can be penalized with under a contract plan. If you're anything like most cell phone users, you've probably even been a victim of this. There are roaming fees, overage fees and administrative charge increases - where does it end?

Have you ever opened up your cell phone bill and been shocked by charges way higher than you were expecting? Maybe it was due to a simple mistake (like letting your niece borrow your phone), or because you were simply unaware that your minutes were running low.

Whatever the case, you know that the fees cell phone companies slap you with are unfair. After all, it couldn't possibly cost your provider that much more for the extra talk time you used... Why the huge jump in cost per minute?

Due to the absurd fees and underhanded tactics that most contract wireless providers employ, more and more people are making the switch to a prepaid cell phone service plans. In fact, 60% of the world's wireless users are now using this "pay as you go" type service.

Prepaid cell phones have many advantages over traditional contract plans. The biggest advantage by far is freedom.

With prepaid cell phone service, you will never be forced to abide by a contract with page after page of fine print. You know exactly what is expected from you right from the start, so there will never be any surprises. If anyone is in charge, it's you - not those huge bullies known as wireless plan providers.

If you aren't happy with the reception and want to switch to another company, you can do so in a heartbeat. Just try something like that with a traditional contract plan; you'd be forced to pay anywhere between $150-$400 per phone line for cancellations!

Another plus is that you'll be smarter with your money when you buy prepaid minutes. When you sign up for a regular cell phone contract, every month you're basically paying for a predetermined amount of talk time - regardless of whether you use that time or not.

It's like being forced to pay for 100 gallons of gas each month. If you only use 80 of those gallons, the remaining 20 still get taken away from you.

With a prepaid plan, you know that all the minutes you paid for will eventually be put to good use. Once they run out, you're free to decide how much you'll be needing. You never have to settle for letting the wireless company take your money without giving you anything in return.

All in all, it's safe to say that most wireless users will find prepaid cell phone service to be the best fit for their lifestyle. Hopefully, the days of hidden fees and 2 year contracts will soon be just an unpleasant memory.
